About Me & Pilates. profile-photo-about-page

I am a qualified Sports and Massage Therapist specialising in physio-based Pilates, with experience working alongside a range of healthcare professionals. My journey into Pilates began following my own shoulder injury, where clinical Pilates played a key role in my rehabilitation and inspired me to train in the method.

After completing a year-long apprenticeship, I gained certification in Mat, Reformer, Combo Chair, and small equipment, and have since continued my professional development, including appi mat certifcation.

I teach Pilates for all ages and abilities, including mat, older adult, and chair-based classes, as well as apparatus sessions. I have a specialist interest in neurological conditions such as MS, Parkinson’s, and stroke, alongside older adult exercise.

My approach is rooted in clinical, physio-based Pilates, focusing on precise, tailored programmes to support individual needs and goals.

Career highlights include training with Pilates Elders, teaching internationally, working with Paralympic athletes at the London 2012 Olympics, and collaborating with organisations such as the MS Society and the National Trust.

I am passionate about Pilates as a mind–body method and believe it is accessible to everyone. I am fully insured and committed to ongoing professional development, ensuring a safe, effective, and personalised service.

About Pilates

About Me & Pilates. about me pilates image

Pilates is a mind–body method that focuses on initiating movement from the centre, developing core stability, strength, flexibility, coordination, and body awareness. Originating from Joseph Pilates’ method, known as Contrology, it emphasises controlled, precise movement with a strong connection between mind and body.

Programmes can be tailored to individual needs, with a focus on quality of movement rather than repetition.

Regular practice offers a wide range of benefits, including reduced aches and pains (particularly non-specific low back pain), improved posture, strength and muscle tone, enhanced core and pelvic floor function, better balance, and increased joint mobility and stability. Pilates can also support respiratory function, relaxation, and overall wellbeing.

Suitable for all ages and abilities—from beginners to elite athletes—Pilates is widely recommended by healthcare professionals. If you have any existing health concerns or injuries, it is advisable to consult your GP before starting an exercise programme.
